Greenberg Gibbons Properties (GGP), a leading Maryland-based developer, has initiated construction on Westinghouse Commerce Center, its second major project in the Charlotte area. This new development is a 48,120-square-foot light industrial building located on Westinghouse Boulevard. The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2022.
Westinghouse Commerce Center is being developed on an 8-acre site and is designed to accommodate a wide range of tenants. The building features 18-foot clear heights and offers flexible spaces ranging from 2,520 square feet to the full 48,120 square feet. This versatility makes it suitable for logistics, technology, research and development, laboratory, office warehouse, and light manufacturing uses.
Alex Laperouse, President of GGP, emphasized the project’s alignment with the company’s strategic goals. "Our combination of quality and attention to detail makes Westinghouse Commerce Center the most functional choice for Charlotte-area businesses to call home on Westinghouse Boulevard," Laperouse stated. "We are committed to delivering premier industrial spaces that meet the diverse needs of our tenants."
The project team includes McMillan Pazdan Smith as the architect, Landmark Builders as the general contractor, and Oak Engineering handling civil engineering duties. CBRE’s Bryan Crutcher and Alek Salfia are leading the leasing efforts for Westinghouse Commerce Center, ensuring that the development attracts a broad spectrum of tenants.
Westinghouse Commerce Center follows GGP’s successful debut project in Charlotte, CLT Commerce Center, a three-building flex industrial development totaling 121,440 square feet. Located near Charlotte Douglas International Airport, CLT Commerce Center was fully leased shortly after its completion, demonstrating the high demand for quality industrial spaces in the region.
In addition to its Charlotte projects, GGP is actively pursuing other opportunities in the Carolinas. The company has several projects in the predevelopment stages, including two more developments in Charlotte and two in Raleigh. These initiatives reflect GGP’s strategy to expand its footprint in high-growth markets and deliver top-tier industrial facilities.
Laperouse concluded, "Westinghouse Commerce Center represents our ongoing commitment to providing superior industrial spaces in strategic locations. We are excited to bring this project to life and look forward to its contribution to the Charlotte business community."
